MDG5225: Fundamentals of Molecular Imaging (4MC)

An elective graduate module offered by the School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

This module explores the general principles of molecular imaging, the key imaging equipment used for molecular imaging and provides practical examples of applications in clinical management and biomedical research. Molecular imaging techniques to be discussed will be those primarily employed in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, including Single Photon Emission Tomography (SPECT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET)), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS). The more recently developed hybrid imaging modalities (SPECT/CT, PET/CT, PET/MR) will also be discussed and the molecular basis of imaging and design of molecular imaging probes will be explained.
